NTPL’s Film Society Presents: Dekalog Nine, Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s wife, Krzysztof Kieślowski
Dekalog 9 follows Dr. Roman, a surgeon diagnosed with impotence, who encourages his wife Hanka to take a lover, but then becomes consumed by obsessive jealousy and starts spying on her, ultimately leading to a complex exploration of love, trust, and the destructive nature of suspicion. The story, loosely based on the commandment “Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s wife”, examines the true meaning of a relationship and how a perceived lack of fulfillment can lead to self-destructive behavior.
From the Dekalog (1988), a series of ten short films set in a Warsaw tower block, each nominally based on one of the Ten Commandments, created for Polish television. It is now one of the most critically acclaimed film cycles of all time. Directed by Krzysztof Kieślowski.
